My name is Chandra Carrier and I have worked in the health care field for 17 years. Through all of my years I always wanted to help and do more for people. I believe that everyone should have the best Quality of Life that is available to them. That’s why I started Bowen Health & Body.

What is Bowen Therapy?

Bowen Therapy, beyond its physical benefits of bodily pain relief also contributes to emotional well-being and regulation. This in a nutshell, is why Bowen has such a inspiring effect on the body.

It’s gentle, yet powerfully impactful holistic nature influences the autonomic nervous system, promoting a shift from the sympathetic (fight or flight) to the parasympathetic (rest and digest) state. This shift facilitates relaxation and can help alleviate stress, anxiety, and emotional tension.

The subtle yet effective moves employed in Bowen Therapy also have a great impact on the fascia, a connective tissue that plays a role in emotional expression and regulation. By releasing tension in the fascia, Bowen Therapy contributes to emotional release and a sense of emotional balance.

Moreover, the therapy creates a space for increased body awareness, mindfulness, and relaxation, fostering a sense of emotional well-being. Clients often report feeling not only physically relaxed but also experiencing a positive impact on their emotional state after Bowen sessions.

It’s essential to note that while Bowen Therapy can complement emotional well-being, it is not a substitute for specialized mental health care when needed. Click below to learn more.

Though Bowen pairs well with other modalities; it is recommended that for the first 3 Bowen sessions that the client try to refrain from other forms of treatments.
Bowen is a holistic technique that works on the soft connective tissue (fascia) of the body. A treatment consists of sequences of small moves that activate nerve bundles below the muscle and soft tissue. Therefore, Bowen reaches deeper tissues and organs.
Bowen is gentle enough for a new born right through to quality of life for end of life care.
Bowen or Foot Reflexology sessions generally are 30 min to 1 hr in length.
The client should come hydrated and wearing light loose fitting clothing. On initial consult we will go through your history leading up to your reason for treatment followed by a Bowen session.
The first 3 sessions are set a week apart if possible or up to 10 days apart before the next session. The first session introduces Bowen to your body. Most can feel something happening during the first week of integration. The second session re-affirms the signals for the body to heal itself. And the third cements it in the brain. After the third session we can evaluate and lengthen time between sessions and so forth. It is always the client that makes the decision as you know your body best.
Bowen helps with everyday aches and pains, sports injuries, accidents, repetitive strain injuries, back pain, diseases in the body, respiratory, ADD/ADHD, bed wetting, fertility/conception, lactation, colic… the list goes on.
No Practitioner can answer this question as it depends on how long you have been in the current state as well as the body’s ability to heal. The longer you have been injured the more scar tissue build up and compensation the body needs to break through and balance.
